The WMREF Institutional Review Board (IRB) has been established in accordance with federal law to ensure that human subjects participating in research activities sponsored by or involving a contracting hospital, clinic, or physician's office are protected from undue risks or deprivation of personal rights and dignity. An IRB has the ultimate responsibility to review human subject research and the authority to approve, require modification in, or disapprove such research, unless the activity has specifically been exempted from IRB review.

Dr. James E. Delmore currently serves as Chair of the WMREF IRB. Members of the WMREF IRB serve as unpaid volunteers.

Dr. Delmore is a Gynecologic Oncologist and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at The University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita.  He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, completed residency training at Wesley Medical Center and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita.   Gynecologic Oncology fellowship training was completed at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.  He has been a member of the WMREF IRB since 1995 and Chairman of the IRB since 1997. 

Teresa Jones, MPH, MT(ASPC) has been a member of the WMREF IRB since 2002 and became the WMREF IRB Manager in December 2010.  

Ms. Jones is a graduate of Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas with a degree in Medical Technology and Wichita State University with a Masters in Public Health. Her most recent position was as Research Scientist for Via Christi Regional Medical Center in the Orthopaedics Section of the Department of Surgery.

Electronic Submission

All IRB submissions should be done in electronic form and hard copy.  Both submissions should be provided to the WMREF office by the 1st of each month.  Electronic submissions should be sent to tjones@wichitamedicalresearch.org.
