2013 'Jiggs Nelson' Quality of Life Individual Award Winners Jeff Peier National Multiple Sclerosis Society Volunteer
Jeff Peier was recognized for this long time commitment as a volunteer for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Jeff has worked in many capacities for NMSS but has been especially involved in working to increase research for the prevention and treatment of MS. He has worked as a mentor for a number of volunteers and continues his work today. Jeff Peier is with the Klenda Austerman Law Firm of Wichita.
Anne Nelson Associate Executive Director Central Plain Health Care Partnership
Anne Nelson was recognized for her tireless work on behalf of the under and uninsured in Sedgwick County through her work with Project Access and the Central Plains Health Care Partnership. Anne works with physicians, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and other healthcare organizations to donate their services to the families in need of care in Wichita and Sedgwick County. Anne is known as a compassionate innovative visionary and continues to work in order to prevent barriers and improving the 'quality of life' for all.

Project Access has provided nearly $144M in donated care in Sedgwick County since it's beginning in the late 1990s'. Staff and volunteers with Project Access coordinate services in individual doctors' offices, hospitals, clinics and other locations so those in need of services and access to care don't have to seek out clinics providing free care. Services are provided in the doctors' offices and local hospitals.
WMREF Scientific Review Committee meets the first Thursday of each month, 12:00 noon, in the WMREF Conference Room. New project applications must be submitted two weeks prior to each scheduled monthly meeting in order to be considered for the next monthly Scientific Review Committee agenda. Refer to the Events calendar for exact dates or call 316-686-7172. WMREF Institutional Review Board (IRB) meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month, 12:00 noon in the Wesley Medical Center Corporate Conference Room. All submissions must be received in the WMREF office by the first working day of each month in order to be considered for the next monthly IRB Meeting.
